53 years old, married for 30 years and father to two daughters, André manages Ducere Holdings. André completed his two year National Service at the end of 1981 and has been working for himself since May 1992 after ending a decade‐long career at IBM South Africa. He then started his own IT Company, Jade Data Management Services, specializing in mid‐range systems and software solutions. In 1996 he merged his company with another IT company, Signon Systems, whose areas of specialization were personal computers and networking. In 1997 the new company, ITI Limited, was listed on the JSE and grew to one of four medium‐sized IT companies in South Africa, with 850 employees. André was predominantly responsible for international expansion which he achieved by acquiring companies in the UK and USA, and growing them. In November 1999, Andre left ITI and invested in five diverse businesses. In 2004, his concentration moved to the development of the MISER technology and he founded Ducere Holdings, where he remains today. Andre’s experience is truly international: he has achieved success in business in the UK, USA, Europe, South America, China, India, Middle East, Africa and Asia while traveling extensively as part of his responsibilities.
Norman is 57 years old and combines his two major skills – engineering and project management ‐ into the MISER project, the technology which is his brainchild. He is highly qualified, with a background in IT, specialized vehicle and flight systems, and transport product development. Norman started his career as a design engineer at Armscor / Denel and their associated companies, working on various projects such as armoured vehicles and aircraft (1984‐1994). From 1994-1998 he was the Operations Managers at ABB Industries, where he had twelve project managers reporting to him. Both these positions involved very large scale projects and as a result, he is very comfortable with any size undertaking. Norman joined ITI Business Solutions in 1998 and worked there until 2003 as a Business Development Manager responsible specifically for special, new technology projects. After he and André started with the development of MISER, Ducere Holdings was founded, where he remains today.
Alan is 59 years old, married, with a daughter living in South Africa, and a son in the UK. While having been involved in motorsport as both an amateur and a professional, his major work has been in the areas of national motor spares distribution in South Africa. As a director and shareholder of Alert Engine Spares, he was involved in developing the company into the largest privately owned distributor in the country. In addition, his automotive industry experience includes consultancy in both business rescue and new technology viability. His solid foundation in engineering comes not from qualifications, but from an extensive hands-on background; this includes designing, building and competing in his own racing cars. As a professional team manager, Alan has run motorsport programmes for six major South African motor manufacturers over a period of 14 years, as well as managing national and international champion drivers. His involvement with Ducere Holdings began when he was approached by a prospective investor to assess the viability of the MISER system; Alan recognised it as a ground-breaking green technology applicable to many areas of the automotive field, and had those beliefs confirmed by a top British automotive technology specialist company. Due to his knowledge, longstanding international relationships in the automotive industry (spanning high performance, commercial and passenger) plus his background in penetrating new markets, Alan has become a member of the MISER family. Now based in the UK, he heads up the company’s European efforts as General Manager, as well as spearheading the MISER hybrid transmission system’s potential involvement in international motorsport.
